First Lady Michelle Obama, Lena Dunham, and Julianne Moore speak onstage at the American Magazine Media Conference 2016 at the Grand Hyatt New York in New York City.
Just after this picture was taken, they tore off their outfits to reveal matching sequined gowns and launched into a FLAWLESS rendition of “Stop, In the Name of Love,” complete with coordinated hand movements. FLOTUS in particular slayed the crowd with her astonishing Diana Ross realness.
Okay, no. But that SHOULD have happened, right?
Let’s assess:
Michelle Obama in Michael Kors
Oooh, we’re sorry Miss FLO. We usually love it when you pick a Michael Kors, but this dress just isn’t doing right by you. We don’t like the shape at all – those sleeves are sad, the bust is merely a suggestion – and the fabric looks flimsy and cheap in pictures.
It’s a little tough to assess given how dark and covered-up she is, but this isn’t bad at all. It’s a little odd to be wearing a trenchcoat while sitting on a stage, however.
Ladies, these mostly- to all-black ensembles are terrible choices for an event like this. All you do is recede into the background. People came out to see you! Give them a little color or something.
It’s cute, though. We’re especially taken by the booties and tights, although we find the dress itself to be slightly juvenile.
Ladies and Gentlemen, introducing the 2017 lineup for ABC TV’s “The View.”
We’d watch that.
