Jennifer Lawrence in Naeem Khan at Dinner for Equality Event

Jennifer Lawrence attends The Dinner For Equality co-hosted by Patricia Arquette and Marc Benioff in Beverly Hills, California.

And now, a study in how lighting can make or break an outfit. Consider J Law, bathed in a golden glow:

Kinda fabulous. Now, consider J Law under the harsh, cold lighting of the average red carpet:

Just… okay. We still like the outfit, although the length and cut of the pants don’t set us on fire. The top is nice, but under less flattering lighting, it seems that she either needed to wear something underneath to give her some support (although we don’t see how that’s do-able) or she should let her breasticles swing free and natural – but not while she’s wearing a pair of high-waisted pants. We tend more toward the latter. Going bra-less is always a perfectly fine option, but we tend to think when a woman does so, she needs a garment that elongates her torso, not one that cuts it in half. That’s why all those slinky ’70s-style gowns tend to look pretty great without a bra.
