“Room” actress Brie Larson attends the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.
When she first showed up in this getup, we tweeted that her dress looked like the inside of our washing machine when we over load it.
And we still think it’s a pretty good line that sums up the dress nicely. But dammit, she does look pretty amazing in it. It’s overdesigned to a fault and we’d be hard-pressed to call it pretty or chic, but she can, to be less than delicate about it, go bland so easily in a picture situation without some serious heavy lifting by the style team. That’s not a ding against her looks. She can join January Jones and Dakota Johnson in the lineup of lady stars who have the same issue. Our point is, if you don’t put some zing into her look, she fades into the background. This is exactly the kind of thing she should be doing right now. Like her Golden Globes dress, it’s awkwardly designed and yet it inexplicably makes her look hotter. It’s not at all what we’d call chic but we can’t stop looking at it. It’s basically doing everything a red carpet dress should be doing for an Oscar nominee at high awards season.
But man, that ugly orange thing in the back is hard to forgive.
