Not too shabby. The shape and style of the gown are so simple as to skirt right up to the line marked “generic,” but it doesn’t much matter because all the interest comes from the textural feel -which really makes the look – and the color. That oxblood shade is extremely red carpet trendy right now and it looks really great on her. Love the gold chain straps and belt too. An element like that can go tacky and ugly so easily but it’s very subtly played here, which makes all the difference. As for the head, the makeup’s pretty fabulous but we wish she’d go a shade or two darker on the hair.

Conclusion: She looks great and she looks like she deserves an award, which is EXACTLY how an Oscar nominee is supposed to look. Well played, Miss Lady.
