Sienna Miller on the Set of “Live by Night”

Sienna Miller spotted filming scenes for her new film “Live by Night” in Los Angeles, California. A story set in the Prohibition Era and centered around a group of individuals and their dealings in the world of organized crime, directed by Ben Affleck.

We were recently watching a period piece set in the 1920s when we found ourselves going off on the topic of period makeup and how, even in the most meticulously researched period films and TV shows, it’s very rarely done with any accuracy. The fact of the matter is, the further back you go, the more unusual a period’s makeup conventions look to modern eyes, which is why so many period pieces tend to fudge things a bit. Sienna may look odd and overmade to us, but we’re pleasantly surprised to see they’re adhering fairly closely to the standards of the day. It has an eerie effect, like looking at an old-timey picture except it’s digital-sharp and in color.
