Janelle Monáe attends the Artist’s Dinner honoring the recipients of the 38th Annual Kennedy Center Honors hosted by United States Secretary of State John F. Kerry at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C.
Personally, we would have waved her away from those shoes, but she likes to wear outfits much more highly coordinated than we’d prefer. It’s pretty much her style schtick. So if she wants to wear black shoes with white flowers on them, a black dress with white flowers on it, and even matching white flower rings, well, she’s Janelle. She can get away with it, mainly because her public appearance style straddles that line between wardrobe and costume.
In other news, we think the dress would’ve been so much better without the ruffles.
In other, other news, that “Diana Ross & The Supremes” hair is EVERYTHING.
