Sometimes we’ll say “Hey! She’s not exactly dressed for the holiday season, is she?” And people will respond with “Hey! Not every part of the world gets cold in December! Back off with your climate-shaming!” But darlings, here is a perfect example of the kind of thing we mean. This is clearly lightweight and springtime in tone; perfect for a December NYC that feels indistinguishable from an April NYC at the moment. And yet, it manages that December feel with the deployment of a little bit of gold to give it more of a winter white feel even though it’s clearly a spring dress. When we note that stars aren’t seasonally dressed, it has less to do with the climate they’re in and more to do with what looks good from season to season. Jewel tones and/or metallics go with this season just as pastels go with spring, bright colors go with summer and autumnal tones go with … well, autumn, of course. None of these things are hard and fast rules and you can wear whatever colors you want whenever you want. It’s just that when celebs are out in the world promoting their latest project in a borrowed clothing, we’re always confused as to why so many choose to look off-season.

Anyway, she looks cute, but we can’t help feeling like she stole something from Nicole Kidman’s closet.
