We love this dress and we think it looks great on her, but we’re reluctant to give her the props for wearing it. You see, darlings, we feel we must remain firm, for Gwynnie’s sake. We’ve been saying for a good long while that Miss Lady needs to get herself the hell out of the style rut she’s been in for some time now. Consistency can be a good thing in one’s personal style, but we’re of the opinion that most people – and especially most celebrity people – should consider letting things evolve over time. Partially that’s because celebs, more than the rest of the public, need to be seen as somewhat up on the trends if not necessarily trendy themselves. Part of it has to do with the need to remain fresh in the eyes of the public. But a lot of it has to do with using style to tell a story about yourself; one that reflects the changes in your life. She’s single now, and while we wouldn’t push her to adopt an “I’M ON THE MARKET AND I STILL GOT IT” style (because it seems so unlike her), it’s a good idea to at least let the world know that you’re up for fun and feeling great about yourself. This dress manages that pretty well, but she still paired it with the same pin-straight hair, clean face, and clunky ankle-straps that she always does. There was an opportunity to have a little fun with the styling here, but it just looks to us like she put on a fun dress and considered the look done. There were tights to be worn, girl! And/or glittery shoes! And/or maybe a fun, curly pony tail! And/or maybe some makeup that you can see from more than four feet away!

We’re just saying. This could have been a seriously cute look.
