Yeah, you read that correctly. Chanel released teasers for Karl Lagefeld’s short film Chanel Once and Forever Paris, which is set to stream live on December 1st. “I think she’s one of the greatest actors of her generation,” Lagerfeld said. “She gives the right emotion and the right intensity immediately so it’s very easy to work her.”
No, really. He said that. In fact, we’re just going to let WWD take the reins for a sec and give you the lowdown on all this:
“Stewart and veteran British actress Geraldine Chaplin actually share the role of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in Once and Forever, both playing actresses preparing to star in a film about the pioneering designer. Chaplin has portrayed Chanel in four previous shorts by Lagerfeld, but Once and Forever marks Stewart’s debut in the role. “She can look like Chanel, and I wanted to show Chanel through all the decades of her life and the comeback in the 1950s,” Lagerfeld explains.”
“The short is set behind the scenes on a fictional film about Chanel’s life and shows the actresses preparing to play her at costume fittings, script meetings and screen tests.”
This all has the potential to be a disaster, but we have to admit, she looks amazing in costume.
