Julia Roberts attends the Hammer Museum’s Gala in the Garden event sponsored by Bottega Veneta at Hammer Museum in Westwood, California.
We’re sighing, Julia. They’re sighs of resignation. We know you’re never going to change – and to be honest, we’re not even sure you have to – but girl, this is tired. We realize “I’ll put on a menswear-inspired jacket and show off my legs” has been pretty much your go-to style brief for the last two decades, but sometimes, you’ve got to pull back and realize not every dress is improved by putting a man’s jacket over it. Shifts tend to hang off the shoulders with virtually nothing in the way of definition around the waist. They can look pretty great when you don’t fuss with them. But when you put a double-breasted jacket over one, you just wind up looking bulky. Especially when the dress has a high collar and the jacket comes with shoulder pads. It just doesn’t work.
Also: competing blacks make T Lo’s eyelids twitch in frustration. We can understand perhaps not wanting to wear a sleeveless mini, but there are better ways of covering up while showing off the famous Roberts legs.
