And now, some tweedy British goodness. We confess we’ve never watched this series even though it’s got a pretty impressive cast. It’s just that at first glance it looked an awful lot like Boardwalk Empire to us; at least on the surface, what with all the Irish gangsters running around the 1920s. It takes a lot to get us invested in a gangster story because to our eyes, every gangster story is exactly the same story. We got caught up in Boardwalk Empire for a while, but that was because we were enjoying the art direction more than anything else.

Anyway, the costuming is absolutely on point. Placed in that setting, it all couldn’t look more appropriately of its time and place. And Cillian is one of those actors who always looks better to us in period clothing than he does in modern clothing.
