NYFW Style Double Shot: Christina Hendricks in Marchesa and Naeem Khan

Today, class, we’ll start off the lesson – the lesson of style, that is – by showing you how Miss Christina got it right by finding a look that plays to all her strengths.

While the jacket is a little tight on her (which is a thing that is not remotely surprising and totally forgivable in this sitch), this look, head to toe, hits all her sweet spots. She’s always loved fussy, tea-stained vintage-style romanticism, but it’s rarely ever been a look we felt she could pull off all that well. But this manages to stay in the realm of her personal style while also feeling modern, chic and totally flattering.

And now, on to more advanced lessons…

Mmmmm, no. Probably not.

See, we tried really hard to like this. And to be honest, we’re about 65% of the way there. We love the shoes (she doesn’t always find pairs that flatter), the skinny pants, and the general idea of pretty little sack dress over them, but that fabric looks so stiff and upholstery like. And because it has such a heavy look to it, when she sits down, she looks like she’s wearing a Snuggie. We can get behind something roomy over her skinny pants, but the shape and the weight of this piece just doesn’t work for her. Kudos for wearing something a little interesting, though.
