“Mad Max: Fury Road” star Nicholas Hoult and “American Ultra” star Kristen Stewart attend the premiere of “Equals” during the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, Canada. Kristen said in a recent interview, “It was a really good time for both of us to make this movie,” because she and Nicholas had both been through public breakups, adding “Not all of my friends have been through what I’ve been through, or what some people have tasted at a relatively speaking young age, and we were not expected to do anything. Everything that we did was explorative, and a meditation on what we already knew.”
One thing we’ve noted about Kristen lately is that she gets very articulate when she talks about her acting process. It can come off really eye-roll-worthy in a lot of film stars, but we think it’s charming how much she’s into the whole thing right now and how easily her eagerness comes across.
Anyway, on to matters of style.
Style. They has it.
Or at least, they has the capability to understand when to dress well and how to dress for a particular venue. This is all very chic, low-key and clearly coordinated. It’s not always necessary for co-stars to look like a couple on the RC, but we’re of the opinion they should always look like they’re working to sell the same product. They’re both in synch here, which is helpful when, for instance, his suit borders on boring and her dress has a really annoying (to us, anyway) sheer overly. Or when her bodice fits her like a bib. Or when her hair is styled kind of fiercely, but you’re not really sure if it goes with the style of dress she’s wearing. Y’know, little fashion weak points like those. It’s good to at least be working on the same level, even if you’re not sticking the landing. Shut up we are not mixing our metaphors.
