“A Tale of Love and Darkness” star (and director) Natalie Portman attends the Ballet National de Paris Opening Season Gala in Paris, along with her husband Benjamin Millepied, who is the Opéra Garnier’s new Director of Dance.
It has long been established that we’re terrible people, so it shouldn’t surprise you that our initial reaction was “What a flamazingly fabulous look! Why oh why did Dior have to lend it out to HER?”
Yes, we know. Awful. But in our defense, picture Jennifer Lawrence wearing this. Granted, J Law may be a bit too busty to make that stiff shell work for her, but we think she’d make this look sing in a way that Natalie just can’t. And we fully admit that it’s a matter of us not responding all that well to her persona. We don’t hate or anything, but you’d never find her anywhere on a list entitled “Celebrities T Lo Would Love to Be Best Friends With,” which is a list that may or may not physically exist.
Anyway, this is a gorgeous look, but we’re not feeling the joie de vivre quality from Miss Portman that it really needs. And while we fully support her adherence to veganism down to her footwear choices, those shoes are straight-up wrong.
But what a stunning skirt.
