Everyone knew the front row for Givenchy’s first New York Fashion Week show was going to be an A-list affair, and there was a good chance it was going to be an unusually well dressed line-up – and it was; probably the best-dressed front row NYFW has seen in a decade – but what surprised and delighted us was just how amazingly well-chosen each of the outfits were for each of the attendees. Major Bravos and Bravas to the Givenchy team, because not only did they make everyone look pretty amazing; not only did they style every woman exactly to their specific image and personal style, they also managed to almost tell a story through their front row, as if each woman was supposed to represent a different facet or idea.
The mother.
The ingenue.
The diva.
The retro chic.
The casually chic.
The artist.
The movie star.
The legend.
The bad girl.
The fierce one.
The classic.
The good girl.
And the sex goddess.
Maybe we’re overthinking it – in fact, it’s likely – but you can’t deny that each woman is sporting a very specific look and style, which is an amazing thing to see in a front row, which tends toward conformity.
