We respect this look more than we like it, if that makes any sense.

Respect, because it’s definitely unusual, but also because it’s chic and sophisticated in a way that only French haute couture can be. There’s an impeccable quality and high-end feel that even some of the more heavily gowned ladies of this night couldn’t pull off. But there’s no getting around the feeling that it’s awkward and a bit overdesigned. We don’t like that sheer yellow overlay at all, and we’re a bit uncomfortable that the cups sit so low on her. The skirt is very cute, but it’s really not the kind that looks great over a pair of pants. And the pants themselves, while a great cut, look odd rendered in black against that pale pastel dress.

Still, we couldn’t stop looking at pictures of it all day long. It’s not to our taste, but we love that someone so young picked the most unusual and high-end look of the night. The shapes may be a bit odd, but we can’t deny the allure of French haute couture.
