Ellen Page and Julianne Moore attend the premiere of “Freeheld” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
What a fabulous little butch/femme couple they make.
We’d almost believe they were a couple because they each seem to be forcing the other into personal style bests. These ladies are bringing their A game here. Not that anyone’s looking like a Vogue cover; just that they both have had, shall we say… issues when it comes to the red carpet and we’re not seeing them this time.
Love Ellen’s look here, which is helped considerably by being unified and polished. Makeup is not required for your average Butch Chic look, but for a red carpet appearance, it definitely helps. Her face and hair look very pretty. About the only criticism we have is that the jacket is a little big on her and we’s swear she picked it up in the boy’s section.
As for Julianne, we’ve seen her in looks far showier and more high-fashion than this, but again, it’s nice to see her tone down some of her edgier impulses and just do a simple black gown with a big femme-y bow on the front. We do tend to hate bows – and in all honesty, we don’t like this one either – but it does provide one more bit of contrast for the two of them. Each woman looks put-together, distinct, and somehow part of a greater whole. Well done.
