As a full outfit, this is kind of strange. But if we caught her in the act of getting dressed to go to a New Year’s Eve party and she hasn’t put her top on yet, then we’d wait to see the final version. Unfortunately, it’s August and she’s at an industry party instead.

We don’t know, you guys. That skirt is striking and pretty, but it looks so heavy and so wrong for this time of year. Adding a bra to the look doesn’t suddenly make it look summertime light. But then we try and picture that skirt with some other top and … what? Are we talking about a sweater? Some sort of blouse? Nothing else seems to quite go. Plus the longer we look at it the more we find the stiffness and the hem length a little awkward.

And yet…

We can’t take our eyes off it. It’s unique, which is something we feel we need to celebrate as this, the Summer of the Celebrity Plain Black Dress comes to its close. Lizzy always gives us something to look at and something to consider. In our rush to judge we sometimes forget to commend her for that. It’s definitely an odd look, but it’s hard to get mad at it simply because there’s a unique beauty to it.

Weird top, though. You can’t get us to budge on that one.
