Gwyneth Paltrow at Paddle and Party for Pink Event

Like any two bitchy celebrity style bloggers, we reached for our Big Book of Bitchy Bon Mots as soon as we put Gwynnie on the roster for today. But instead,  after a moment’s reflection, we’re going to pay her a string of compliments, starting with her goddamn poise:

She’s wearing a floral print maxi dress paired with Paul Andrew wedges.

See, we kept trying to find a shot of her shoes to determine if they work with the dress when we realized that she was standing the way you’re supposed to stand in a skirt with a high slit. That is to say, she’s not thrusting her one leg out like a kickstand or standing with her feet so far apart you’d think she was being buffeted by high winds and needs to steady herself. Celebu-ladies, this is how it’s done. And we say this not because lady legs are dirty, shameful things to be hidden away under fabric, but because it just looks better to stand like a not-crazy person when you’re getting your picture taken. And of almost equal importance, your dress will probably look better too, since you’re allowing it to drape the way the designer intended.

Having said that, we’re still not sure if the shoes – which are fabulous, by the way – work with the dress. As for the latter, we’re shocked to discover that this dress, which is pretty in a slightly retro-1940s kind of way, is too tight on Miss Gwynnie.
