And now, our yearly rant about the Celebu-Ladies of Comic-Con. We can’t help it. We feel like the same boat gets missed every year.
Ladies, you’re doing it wrong. Again.
Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain promote their film “Crimson Peak” at Comic-Con International 2015 – Day 3 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California. Jessica Chastain is wearing a Preen dress from the Fall 2015 collection.
Hiddles may be mismatched, but he’s perfectly on point for the venue, which practically begs for a casual, light, and upbeat kind of style.
Chastain, on the other hand, looks like she’s attending her sister’s wedding. It’s a perfectly fine look, but Comic-Con is one place where ladystars are not only free to, but encouraged to ditch the heels and shapewear and see-through skirts for something fun and personality-heavy, rather than something conformist and standard. Just once we’d like to see a ladystar show up in a Power Puff girls T-shirt, or sporting a Wonder Woman tiara, or Leia side buns – or anything that shows she’s having a little fun with the crowd and lightening up a but.. Granted, Jessica doesn’t strike us as the most likely candidate for any of these suggestion, simply because she’s pretty narrow in terms of how she likes to present herself, but it distressed us this weekend to see one boring cocktail dress after another on ladystars facing huge swathes of people dressed as cartoon and videogame characters. It’s a pop culture nerdfest, gals! Have some fun with it, we say.
