It’s Cate Blanchett in an underwhelming look at an awards ceremony we never heard of, but you know what? It’s late July and the celebs ain’t doing shit, which means the pickings are disastrously slim for bitchy celebubloggers like us. Also: it’s Cate Blanchett.

The sleeve detail’s kind of interesting but the length isn’t so hot and the accessories are surprisingly standard, bordering on not-great. She could’ve really made this dress sing with some well-chosen accessories but the shoes and bag look like she just pulled them out of the back of her closet without a thought. Metallics would’ve done the job here in dressing this up and making it more dramatic.

And since we’ve fully committed to being critical bitches in this post, isn’t it time she updated that ‘do? It’s her go-to red carpet hair and it’s gotten as stale as Gwyneth Paltrow’s flat-ironed center part.
