Elizabeth Banks in Balmain at the “Magic Mike XXL” LA Premiere

Gotta give Miss Lady some credit here. This is one hell of a head-turning look. And if you suspect that’s a way of putting off admitting that we don’t think it’s a pretty look, well… you’re not half wrong.

And if you suspect our criticisms are partially fueled by the jealousy we’re feeling that she gets to sexually harass Matt Bomer and Channing Tatum  on the red carpet? You are one hundred percent not wrong.

Even so, here’s what: We have a thing about blondes in yellow because mismatched yellows on the average white person is not going to make for a photogenic look nine times out of ten, in our experience. She’s just barely making this work on that front, but it’s really helped along by all the black blocking. We can’t help thinking we’d love this a lot more if the yellow parts were blue or red or even purple. Second, we’re not necessarily prudish about all that sheer netting, but it’s puckering around her hips and breasts in certain shots, giving her the illusion of pruney skin.

And yet, like we said, we can’t deny it’s bold and really eye-catching. Even with our crits, we have to give her an “Attagirl” just for choosing something worth discussing and looking at.
