That fabric is so rich, dark, and textural that the sudden interruption by an uncalled-for strip of skin is like a fashion needle scratch. It just doesn’t look right. And it throws the proportions off. Also: those shoes make us angry. The color’s wrong and the style’s wrong. This dress called for something a little lighter and more youthful-looking. We seem to be violating our own rule by saying this more and more lately, but she’d have nailed it if she’d just taken everything from the runway look and put it on.

In other news, the girl’s got great hair but we always felt her makeup was wrong for her, like someone once gave her the wrong advice for her face and coloring.
