So now we have red carpet events at theaters for season finales of TV shows? You won’t hear us complain, because we make part of our living covering these things, but Hollywood’s need to roll out a red carpet every time it does something is pretty exhausting sometimes. And like we said in our podcast a couple weeks back, we sense that on a cultural level, we’re close to reaching Peak Red Carpet. Fingers to the wind, it seems to us that the public isn’t as invested in following these things as they were a few years ago. It’s become too much of a marketing event now, and with the proliferation of stylists and design house collaborations, the red carpet has only grown blander over time.
Feh. We sound crankier than we mean to. There always has been a red carpet at Hollywood industry events, and there always will be. And we’ll definitely always be there with our opinions at the ready. But it’s all become too slick and too ubiquitous. A shaking-up is in order.
Anyway, here’s Jada:
Jada Pinkett Smith attends FOX’s “Gotham” finale screening event at The Landmark Theatre in Los Angeles, California in an Ashish gingham sequin miniskirt paired with a white shirt, Saint Laurent platform pumps and an Edie Parker clutch.
It’s a cute look. As always, we’d quibble with the choice of clutch and shoe, though. We figure one of them should’ve been silver to dress the look up a bit more and tie into the glittery skirt. We like that she dressed it down a little with the simple oxford shirt. It just needed a slight bumping up somewhere else.
