This probably seems like a way-too-late post, since the show’s most ardent fans have met the queens already, but let’s give the ladies the spotlight anyway. Besides, we have an announcement (which is our real reason for posting this). Ladies? Introduce yourselves:

And now, with as little fanfare as possible, we want to let y’all know that we won’t be recapping the show. There are plenty of very good and very funny RPDR recappers out there, so we trust you’ll be in good hands. And we hope everyone on the twitters will follow along with us as we plan on live-tweeting the episodes. And of course, there is our wonderfully active TV & Film forum, which is currently the hottest spot for all Bitter Kittens to chat about all things TV, and even has its own RPDR thread already started and ready to go. Yes, we’re going to enjoy watching this show as much as ever; probably even more than ever because we won’t have the pressure of trying to make a reality competition recap sound fresh after having written literally millions of words and thousands of posts on the topic over the last nine years.

And that’s the real reason we’re stopping. As we hope we’ve indicated, we still love this show. But a site like ours has to know what to do to stay fresh in order to stay in the game. It was hard dropping our Project Runway coverage, but we knew almost immediately that it was the right thing for us to do. It allowed us to put the considerable energy we poured into trying to make those posts sound fresh into reviewing a whole range of new TV shows, giving us the chance to really stretch ourselves and expand both our content and our audience. We are very sorry if anyone is disappointed by this news but we hope you understand the need for us – and more importantly, this site – to grow and change over time.

In the end, we just don’t think we have anything left to say about reality TV competitions that we haven’t already said countless times. We’d rather try something new than repeat something old.

And believe us, we’d have loved not to have to make such a self-serving announcement about it, but we know we’d be pummeled with “Where are your RPDR recaps?” questions for the next several months if we didn’t just come right out with it.
