This is the most Barbie-looking outfit she’s ever worn. No surprise there, since it’s at least one of the most Barbie-looking outfits we’ve ever seen.

We’re so torn about the lavenders and pinks that have been trending this spring. On the one hand, it’s so nice to see color when the fashion world seems so determined to see the world in black and white lately. On the other hand, we’ve always felt these two colors – especially in combination – are a springtime cliche. We can’t help thinking if either of the two pieces were another color, this outfit would instantly look more sophisticated and less doll-like. Picture a pink coat with a little black dress or a white coat with the lavender dress. Even the crazy green and drab grey paired with these pieces on the runway looks more interesting to us.

Having said that, we do like the look for being sweet and sparkly-glam for an audience that turned out hoping to see exactly that. She’s totally on point for the venue, which is one of the big reasons why we consider her a true fashionista. She (and her team, of course) really know what they’re doing.
