Lea Michele in Mason by Michelle Mason at the Family Equality Council’s LA Awards Dinner

Lea Michele would like to let you know that, when it comes to tallying up things that she is all about, it is obvious that she is all about families, all about equality, but most of importantly, all about her sternum.

We feel like the pants and the realtor shoes are her way of dressing “serious.” But from the waist up, she just couldn’t stop herself from giving them some of that old Lea Michele magic.

We’re just so over all these wide, plunging necklines. Not because we’re prudes, but because the shape tends to be unflattering to a lot of women (although it works fine here) and/or because it’s so hard to reconcile the bottom half of an outfit with such an attention-seeking top half. That’s why she looks dowdy to us from the waist down. It’s because she’s serving up “showgirl” from the waist up. We also tend to think you should save the dramatically plunging necklines for equally dramatic Bob Mackie-esque sorts of looks. When they’re slapping them on any old jumpsuit, it’s time to retire the trend.
