We know it’s customary ’round these parts to enforce mandatory BOW DOWNs whenever Queen Helen walks out onto her balcony, but we’re afraid we don’t love this:
“Woman in Gold” actress Helen Mirren Helen Mirren attends the Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2015 Spring Gala at the Grand Ballroom at The Waldorf-Astoria in New York City in a Carmen Marc Valvo long-sleeved gown.
The color and the shape work beautifully for her. It fits perfectly. Hair, makeup and jewelry are all tastefully chic (although that necklace probably doesn’t work with that neckline). So what’s our problem? It’s that center panel. We kind of hate it the more we look at it. The shape is just too exaggerated, cutting right across her boob, giving the illusion of a freakishly small waist, and making her hips look strangely angular. Everything about this dress, including the basic idea, is perfectly sound and should look wonderful on her, but the proportions of that faux-silhouette are odd and distracting.
Darlings, can you find the strength in yourselves to agree? Or are you simply far too dazzled by Queen Helen’s air of fuckinfantastica?
