Margot Robbie in Blumarine and Alexander McQueen at “Focus” Screening

There are two reasons Miss Margot deserves our respect. First, because her star is rising, and for the premiere of her movie, she skipped the couture and the princess fantasies and instead chose a strapless white jumpsuit. We can’t not admire that just a little for going against the grain.

And second, she’s almost pulling it off:

It’s not perfect – because pleats at the waist so rarely are – but it’s really well styled, with the coat and the killer pumps. If she wasn’t publicly hoiking it up (which is both an indication that it’s not fitted well AND A HUGE NO TO DO IN FRONT OF CAMERAS GOD MARGOT DO WE HAVE TO TELL YOU EVERYTH – anyway. If she wasn’t hoiking it up, we’d call this a major win all around. As it is, it’s an interesting idea that almost worked.
