LOOK AT HOW MUCH COFFEE EDDIE REDMAYNE HAD BEFORE THE OSCARS:
He’s buzzing so fast he’s turning blurry. Look at those eyes. It’s a good thing he won, because we fear he might have snapped if he hadn’t. You can relax and stand down now, Eddie. All your poledancing paid off.
We’re going to go ahead and call this win a bit of a game-changer. This is the first time we can recall a male nominee winning after having done the intense kind of poledancing normally reserved for the ladies. He was giving Sandra Bullock, Kate Winslet and Anne Hathaway – all of whom ran nearly legendary Oscars poledances of great length and elaboration the years they won – a real run for their money. We suspect that in the future, any actor under 45 who gets nominated will feel the pressure to repeat Eddie’s success here and spend a good nine months putting on expensive, attention-seeking clothes and posing endlessly for pictures all over the world.
Anyway, if there was a boytrend of the night, it was the same one that trended on all the awards show red carpets in the past year: the midnight blue tux. At some point, we’re all going to get tired of it, but for now, it remains the best way for a stylish man to give his tux just a little bit of something-something. Black is boring and white makes you look like a waiter. But midnight blue is elegant and eye-catching.
Now someone please tell us why his hair makes him look like he woke up from a nap.
