Red Carpet Micro-trend: Ladies in Leather

Posted on January 06, 2015

Darlings, the life of a celeb-style blogger is one filled with hardship and tears.

Oh, wait. No it isn’t. It’s kind of awesome. But it IS weird sometimes; like when you get up at 6 am to look at the photo services and find yourself grunting into your coffee cup and muttering “What’s with all the leather?”

Consider the following, all worn in the last 24 hours:

Taraji P. Henson

Emmy Rossum in J. Mendel

Zosia Mamet in Alexander McQueen

Interesting little micro-trend, popping up out of nowhere, yes?

Oh, wait. There’s one more, but we suggest you brace yourselves:

Rose McGowan

Clearly, all the gays have abandoned her to her own devices. This is what happens when you piss the lavender mafia off, dear. Make a note.

We always say that the leather dress is something every gal should try out at least once, with the understanding that the likelihood of her being able to pull it off is slim. It’s the string bikini of dresses. To our surprise, all of the dresses really work. To our even bigger surprise, we’d have to pick Zosia’s as our favorite. Emma’s and Taraji’s look good, but a bit heavy. No leather dress needs a mid-calf hem.

So, darlings, who wore this little micro-trend the best? If you say Rose, you better be prepared to defend it, though.
