We’re telling you, she’s feeling the pressure.

We noted this with her Golden Globes getup, and we’ll reiterate it here: we think she’s making a concerted effort to offer a more womanly, grown-up kind of style to the world. We noted this turn when she was on her book tour this year and then after she became something of a target because of some of the, shall we say, dicier passages in her memoir. When Seacrest was interviewing her at the Globes, she awkwardly brought up how much all of the attacks on her have bothered her, which made Seacrest deliciously uncomfortable but also made her sound a little obsessed with the whole thing.

In addition, Girls just got signed for a 5th season, which makes it something of a momentary television institution. With her multiple award wins, best-selling book, and highly lauded cable series, she must be feeling at least a little pressure (from people other than bitchy fashion bloggers) to start dressing the part of a successful, accomplished woman instead of a finger-sucking toddler. Or maybe she’s just evolving. Either way, it’s a good thing.

This outfit, however, could use some work. First off, ditch the cutesy-matchy earrings. Second, find an edgier pair of shoes. Third, either put on a belt or zhuzh up those sleeves and put on a bracelet. It’s a cute dress, though – and a step in the right direction.
