When the capes start coming out, you know J Lo’s not fooling around anymore.

Hey, a girl’s gotta do what she has to in order to get attention amongst this crowd. It’s an ever-escalating cold war of attention-whoring at these sorts of things. We’re about a year or two away from J Lo simply parachuting onto major awards show red carpets.

Having said that, and as much as we admire this for the pure divatude, she’s looking too much like a low-rent drag queen. The wiggy hair combined with the choice to have EVERYTHING be sparkly does not a chic look make. Then again, as we said, it’s not about chicness. It’s about #BeMeorDoMe-style look-at-me-ism. We’re torn. We can’t help but admire it for the sheer over-the-top qualities, but we can’t in good conscience call this a stylish look. And to be honest, even if we look at it as stagewear (which is how you should probably look at most of J Lo’s public outfits), we still have a problem with the over-sparkliness and the total lack of color or contrast. She’s a big, sparkly salute to beige.
