Before we get to the interesting or discussable celeb-style, we must first ask a question that begs to be asked.
We were going to insert a bunch of links to all the other black dresses we featured from the red carpets this week, but we quickly realized there were far too many. Just scroll through the last week’s worth of posts. It seems everyone’s on a “black is slimming” kick after the holidays. But you’re killing us, ladies. You’re giving us nothing to write about and if you don’t knock it off, we’ll band together, Norma Rae style, with all the other celeb bloggers and refuse to cover any of your projects.
We’ll do it. Don’t think we won’t. We just have to get a whole bunch of people who make their living off of you to agree not to. Give us a week or two. But it’s a threat. A real one. You should be scared.
The following semi-black ensembles really aren’t much better, but at least they’re not plain LBDs.
Angela Bassett at the premiere of Lifetime’s “Whitney” in Beverly Hills, California.
It’s not great or anything, but she’s here as the director of this movie and probably felt like she needed to go the Angelina Jolie route. Of course, for Miss Angela, toning it down means a cropped bustier.
Miss Salma understands that a black dress needs a little something-something if you’re going to be photographed. Love this look, actually.
Grade school teacher.
We almost wept for joy that this wasn’t black. We’re at the point where we’re treating midnight blue as if it were shocking pink.
She looks good, though.
She’s adorable, but we want to give her head a makeover. The hair and makeup could be so much fresher with this one.
We can already tell that stylists want to put him in slightly sleazy, thuggish looks, but we hope he tells them to back off and just keep himself in simple, well made looks like this one. Otherwise, it’ll all turn to cliche pretty quickly.
She has gone totally off the style rails recently.
Not to be mean or anything, but we can’t wait for awards season to be over so we can stop looking at these two. We’re sure they probably feel the same way. This has been one loooooong poledance.
