We’ll just let Mr. Press Release have the floor for a second.
“Hollywood’s brightest new stars take on the many facets of the Miu Miu femininity in a series of portraits by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
Elle Fanning (Somewhere, Super 8), Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows), Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave) and Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Macy May Marlene) reinterpret the Spring/Summer 2014 collection – a play on classic archetypes of fashion – through their individual style language.”
Well said, Mr. Press Release. You may sit now.
We had reservations about Lupita doing these ads, believe it or not. It’s true that she rocked the shit out of a very hard-to-wear Miu Miu dress a little while back, but there’s Miu Miu out in the real world and then there’s the advertising version of the brand, which tends to go for a very quirky (to the point of being awkward sometimes) look. When we saw the first picture of her, we figured all our fears came true. It’s an awful look for her. Thankfully, every other shot of her is stunning. Euro-chic looks fantastic on her but they have to keep her away from the ABBA costumes the brand sometimes produces.
As for the other ladies, they all look good too. They’re not equal to Lupita in the modeling department but they’re well styled.
