Are we allowed to critique her style choices again? We promise we’ll be gentle.
Lea Michele attends Elle’s 20th Annual Women In Hollywood Celebration in Beverly Hills, California in a Calvin Klein dress paired with B Brian Atwood sandals and a Kotur clutch.
Um. We hate it. From tip to toe.
There. Was that gentle? At least we didn’t say “Of course.”
But really, we’re not loving the color on her, the bodice is just plain unflattering and unattractive, the hair doesn’t suit her, and the shoes … well, the shoes are okay. They’re actually a nice pair. We’re just kind of over the naked shoe in October, but that’s just us.
We think she’s in a tough position, style-wise. Ironically, the trend on the red carpet at the moment is to dress like you’re going to a funeral, but she needs to shy away from looking like she’s milking her mourning period and besides, she still has to do the work of being a star, which means showing up looking glam on red carpets. On the other hand, if she were to show up in her usual sternum-baring micro-mini-dresses and do the usual vamping and “l’il ol’ me” schtick she’s kind of known for, the public would probably recoil in disgust. We can sense an attempt here to remain true both to her image and to her public role as Cory Monteith’s de facto widow in the eyes of Glee fans; a massive toning down of her usual attention seeking, while still being just a little, well… attention seeking. It’s not a bad attempt, but that bodice is just so unattractive that it ruins it.
