Taking our seats, we had a bare-bones understanding of the theme for this collection; something about Versailles. As the romantic-with-an-edge looks came out, one after another, we nodded approvingly at the princess/punk vibe and murmured “it’s that whole broken chandelier thing.” Later, we read the show notes:
REBELS WITH A CAUSE
the gardens of Versailles
& storming the castle
GARDENS, MAZES, CHANDELIERS,
SHATTERED MIRRORS
POWER MEETS PRETTY
Now, we’d love to say that we’re oh-so prescient and tuned-in that we sussed out the exact imagery she was evoking, but the fact of it is, she was evoking it so purely and cohesively that it was hard to miss. We’re loving the mix of prints, the range of textures, the high level of wearability and adaptability to the pieces, and above all, the romantic/rock & roll vibe; the pure attitude of it all.
