Cathy and Bill’s North American Adventure, Day 9

Posted on July 09, 2011

Clearly, Mrs. Cambridge hit a mid-trip slump in the last couple of days or maybe she finally found a lost suitcase, because suddenly, color’s on the menu.

PinEven though a coat dress in June July seems like a somewhat odd choice to us, we love this look. It’s got some structure and shape to it with a little bit of style and a bold infusion of color. Plus, the return of Gramma Betty’s brooch. We can even get behind the nude accessories here because black would have been heavy, white would have been tacky, and any other colors would have been distracting.

PinWe’re not a bit surprised she broke out one of her best, most stylish looks just to disembark in L.A. That was probably smart, but style-conscious Canadians should all be a little miffed about it. Of course it’s practically colorless, but we don’t mind so much. The pale blue-grey looks lovely and very summer (especially in contrast to the coat dress above). The draping and pleating in the bodice is a bit odd, though. She always looks like she needs an adjustment. Still, well done, Cathy.

PinOh my goodness, kittens, Mrs. Cathy is wearing a bright color! We wonder if she hasn’t been itching to indulge in some American designers like DVF, who’s a particularly good match for her style. We don’t always like sashes and really think the dress could have used a belt, but Princess, don’t tie a bow smack in the middle of your waist. That looks a little juvenile. Also, couldn’t you have broken out a black pair of pumps for this one? Still, points for style and also for the fact that she looks great. Honey, you need to indulge in more color.
