In or Out: Cate Blanchett in Romance Was Born

We’ll say upfront that this isn’t going to be one of those Cate Blanchett looks that will cause you to involuntarily gasp and shout “BRAVA!” at your desk. But her last RC appearance here on the blog shook the very foundations of civilization and caused millions of people to question both the existence of God and their own place in the universe. Really. It was that bad.

But this one’s not that bad and “not that bad” is, sadly, a step in the right direction for Cate, who caused the deaths of thousands by wearing such a crappy outfit in public last time.

PinOkay, yes. The pants. They’re not really fabulous. But everything north of the waist is sublime. Love the jacket, blouse and necklace. The whole look is perfect for the event; just stylish and eye-catching enough without being too attention-seeking or over the top. Yes, there’s the pants, and there are what appear to be maribou feathers on the shoes and that seems like a really bizarre choice for this funky, urban chic style of look.

Oh, kittens. What has happened? We find ourselves struggling to say nice things about Cate Blanchett’s outfit! Woe to humanity.
