Yara Shahidi Goes Political at “The Girl Project” Rally on International Day of the Girl

Posted on October 12, 2017

Dynasty reboots and retro Versace collections aren’t the only things heralding a sudden vogue for all things ’80s, darlings. There’s also the rise of the political-message garment back to chicness:

It was evident throughout the collections of the past year, but we weren’t sure – and honestly still aren’t – how much it was going to show up among the celebrity set. While there’s a certain segment of the audience that’s all about the wokeness in their stars, there’s probably an even bigger segment that simply doesn’t want to hear it from them – especially when they’re on a red carpet.

But we imagine most of Miss Yara’s fan base is made up of the former, woke-hungry segment of the audience, so she’s probably not in any trouble here. It is a girl-power rally, after all.

Style-wise? We LOVE It. The skirt is absolutely stunning and both the t-shirt and the pumps are really well-chosen in order to balance everything out. She looks fantastic.
