Jennifer Garner Makes a Surprising Style Choice for the Save the Children Illumination Gala

Posted on October 20, 2017

This has been sitting in a folder all week, stewing in its blandness. But it’s Friday, the pickings are slim, and we know you Kittens tend to be a lot more generous about Miss Jennifer’s style choices than we tend to be.

Sure, it’s a serviceable look – especially for an event like this one.

We don’t love the shoes and think a dress like this calls for better jewelry and perhaps more of a do, but this is a charity event, not a film premiere, so we can understand wanting to keep things toned down on the styling. But a dress like this doesn’t really take well to low-key styling. It’s kind of a puzzle to us. Jen really works the “Mom” angle of her persona and Kors is particularly good at supplying a breezy sort of classic and unfussy chic. So why would she choose something that looks like it should be hanging in the back of Cher’s closet for an event like this?

It doesn’t help that it’s just not a great design. We admit we’re not fans of fringe and may be a bit biased against it, but it seems to us just hanging it off the bust like that is a particularly unimaginative way of utilizing it.
