ELLE’s Women in Hollywood Celebration Red Carpet Rundown

Posted on October 18, 2017

Darlings, a lot of stylish ladies came out to speak some hard truths at this event and we’ve covered several of them so far, but there comes a time when the backlog of red carpet content demands huddling stars into groups so as to make our judgment of them that much easier. For us, of course. And for you, because we’re just that thoughtful.

Shall we get to it, then?

Cobie Smulders in Tory Burch

REALLY could’ve done with the lace blouse, but the rest of it’s pretty fabulous. Maybe not so much on the shoes. We don’t know. We go back and forth on them.

Jaime King in Elie Saab

It’s pretty basic ballerina cosplay, but she clearly loves it.

Julianne Hough in Georges Chakra Couture

That skirt is a Christmas craft project gone horribly, tragically wrong.

Juliette Lewis in Andreas Kronthaler

Lady, we love you but this is horrifying. The soul of a 1980s motel lobby haunts this dress.

Lake Bell in Greta Constantine

We’re not in love with the sleeved but we have to admit, they provide the only interest aside from the color. Also: pumps would’ve been our rec here.

Laura Dern in Calvin Klein

Newp. We love you, Queen, but this is bland and borderline dowdy. Fun sandals, though.

Margot Robbie in Calvin Klein

It’s not terrible, but the cutout straps -which really shouldn’t be a thing – and those damn mismatched sandals everyone fell in love with at once are combining to irritate us.

Niecy Nash in Chiara Boni

Bow down to the queen of fit and shapewear. We’re not crazy about the color, but it still looks great.

Nikki Reed in Victoria Beckham

Sorry, girl. Margot Robbie got there first.

Nina Dobrev in Prabal Gurung

Pretty, but we feel like we’ve seen this a thousand times this year.

Riley Keough in Calvin Klein

We’re never going to accept these long-sleeved, low-hemmed outfits with the most naked of sandals. It always looks silly and unbalanced to us. Once again, pumps would’ve finished this off perfectly. Love the skirt.

Vanessa Hudgens in Vintage Vestiaire Collective

Vintage prom.

Yara Shahidi in Chanel

Not in love with the neckline, but the rest of the dress, combined with those shoes, makes for a really fresh look on her.
