The word of the day is “LUSH.”
Or maybe it’s just the word for this post, because we kind of doubt anyone’s going to top this look for sheer lusciousness:
Put a tail and some cat ears on her and we’re ready to start shooting a new Catwoman movie.
Personally, we’re not going to call this high-fashion chic. Maybe that’ll piss off the Bey stans, but it’s not meant to be a criticism. This is a form of costume or stagewear. There’s a clear sense of moneyed luxury and richness that she’s giving off. It’s deliberate, it’s over-the-top in a drag sort of way and it’s not the kind of style you see celebrated on Vogue covers. And all of that’s fine. She’s taken control of her image in a way so few stars manage, and she uses her skills to promote herself and her family as people of luxury but also as representatives of an ideal sort of life. After all, that clutch isn’t exactly subtle. Or rather, it’s about as subtle as a purple mink wrap.
Long story short, we do not dub this chic. We do, however, consider it one of the most fabulous celebrity looks of the year. It plays to all her strengths, flatters her tremendously, sells a certain image and takes an amazing picture. She doesn’t always get the fashion part of her image right, but we think she really nailed this one. She’s not a gal who’s going to be working Commes des Garcons or even Chanel or Givenchy on the regular. She’s a gal who needs color, richness, radiance and sex appeal in her image – and this look checks off every box.
