Eric McCormack, Megan Mullally, Debra Messing and Sean Hayes attend the Tribeca TV Festival exclusive celebration for “Will & Grace” in New York City.
Darlings, see if you can find the grandest dame among these grande dames.
Spoiler: It’s Debra, of course.
All of her castmates got the whole “Tribeca TVFestival” vibe thing, but she’s at opening night at Lincoln Center. Not that she’s doing it wrong. If anything, this quartet is all doing a pretty good job of sticking to their own style idiosyncrasies.
Of course, when you leave celebrities to their own style devices, nine times out of ten, you’re not going to get super-chic looks as a result. To wit:
It’s almost hilarious how random and poorly matched it all is. Every single piece would do better if it wasn’t matched up to every single other piece. Except the t-shirt, which is strictly for spring housecleaning. We love you, gal, but that stretched-out neck….
It’s very her, which makes it very right for this occasion, in a weird way. We get the sense that, as thrilled as she is to be back and as much as she loves Grace Adler, she has a more open desire to remain DEBRA MESSING in the public’s mind. Just an impression. Anyway, this is all very Opening Night, as we noted. It’s bust and a bit overblown, but that’s her way. If we have a crit, it’s for the generic sandal. Such a heavy-looking garment needs a pump, we’d say.
Gays at Brunch. It’s not stylish enough to be interesting, but thematically, it seems pretty appropriate to us.
So, are you all in on this revival? We’ve been a bit reluctant about the whole thing. We suspect it will do well, both critically and in hard numbers, but we just haven’t felt much excitement about it.
