Tracee Ellis Ross Goes Hi-Lo – Badly – at the Television Academy’s Performers Peer Group Celebration

Posted on August 23, 2017

We’ve been going back and forth on Miss Tracee’s boho-glam preferences pretty much since forever. Or it seems that way to us, at least. Looking at this getup, we’re struck by how well it sums up our major issue with her public style.

She has a tendency to flub it on the details. We suspect she’s all BIG IDEAS when it comes to her style, but with not a lot of thought put to follow-through. The duster and pants are simply perfect for her – and chic in their own right, which isn’t a surprise when there’s a Chanel label inside. But that t-shirt is almost physically painful for us to look at. The proportions, fabric, and style are hellaciously wrong for the other pieces.

It’s time for Miss Lady to realize that hi-lo is not among her style skill sets. We’ve seen her pull off fun casual looks and fabulously chic looks, but we rarely see her combine the two in a stylish way.

And the shoes, as her shoe choices so often do, puzzle us by doing little to accentuate or respond to the outfit.
