Krysten Ritter Keeps Things Consistent at “The Defenders” NY Premiere After-Party

She did it again:

And okay, yes. Our point, which we made last time, has been re-affirmed: Miss Lady is sticking to a very narrow look at the moment. The fact that she’s not deviating from it even slightly indicates how deliberate it probably is. And as we said, we can’t necessarily argue with the approach. Red and black really do look amazing on her and she really does have a natural affinity for wearing dramatically photogenic looks.  And you certainly can’t argue with her confidence. Real or faked, it’s clear this dress is not hindering her from expressing herself. In sum, she naturally looks great in looks like this and she pretty clearly feels great in them too.

But as a reminder:

We can’t recall any actress wearing such thematically similar looks in the same week – let alone on the same night – for the same promotional tour. Not even Janelle Monae, who usually bounces back and forth between clownish harlequin looks and classically chic ones, all while sticking to her B&W theme. But Miss Kristen really is wearing some sort of costume for this tour.

We can’t argue that she looks bad in this dress and we’re not even sure we can argue that this is necessarily a rut anymore. Instead, it’s coming across like a bit of admirably consistent branding on her part. What makes it ironic is that her character is that rare superhero who actually doesn’t wear a costume.
