Elizabeth Olsen Olsens It Up at the “Ingrid Goes West” New York Premiere

That’s it. We’ve hit the wall on this one.

Sweetie? That’s a no from us. We’re sure you’re devastated.

To be fair, we’ve been somewhat supportive of her style choices over her career. But we’ve also noted her Olsen-specific tendency to dress like an 80-year-old museum docent from time to time. This, in case we’re being to subtle about it, would be one of those times.

We won’t deny the pieces – even the look overall – has some drama and style to them. We imagine we’d have an entirely different reaction to this look if Jane Fonda were wearing it. And we could be convinced on breaking up the kimono and pants to make different looks. Even so, the huge belt, obvious buttons, and upholstery-like fabric would come off like a bit much no matter who’s wearing it. This ensemble would have a fighting chance (for our approval) if it was on the back of someone a half-century older than her.
