We’re not quite sure what’s going on here:
It’s basic in a lot of ways, but it’s also classic Dior in a lot of ways. We think this should, by all rights, be giving her that Audrey Hepburn feel the dress clearly evokes. But for some reason, it’s not really working for us. There’s something off about the proportions. The skirt seems to hit a little high and possibly be a little too full. The neckline’s also too high (and doesn’t work with a choker) and the padded shoulder/pushed-up sleeve combination removes any chance of this pulling off a gamine-like effect. Everything is widening her, when an outfit like this, when it’s fitted right and the proportions are right, should give her more of a dancer feel. Also, the shoes and bag aren’t helping at all.
Keep the skirt and pair it with a white oxford, pearls, killer shades, and ballet flats. Lose the clutch. Pull the hair back. If you’re gonna go classic, might as well go all the way, especially since this half-assed version isn’t working.
