Maggie Gyllenhaal attends a screening of “The Deuce” during the Split Screens Festival at the IFC Theater in NYC.
Why, Miss Maggie. Look at you, making the unworkable work. Sort of.
She’s always been the gal who looks good in things other women find difficult to wear. But the downside to that knack is that she doesn’t have much use for conventional fashion, which isn’t a problem for most, but can be for someone who needs to make red carpet appearances on the regular. She’s always at her best, style-wise, when she sticks to a particular type of retro-tinged soignée style. This almost fits the bill. The print and colors look great on her. The style is right up her alley. But the sash does nothing for it and the shoes actively don’t go.
Granted, when it comes to offering solutions, we’re pretty much stumped. Gold sandals, maybe. But if you take that sash off, the pajamas go very literal.
This would be your cue to come in with the “This is why women shouldn’t wear pajamas in public, T Lo” line. And we suppose we can’t argue with that but dammit, we like this. We just can’t figure out how to style it.
