Three things we tend to love:
1) A dress with a Miu Miu label (Why else would we name one of our cats after the brand?)
2) A bronze metallic, and
3) Pailettes, because we’re just that gay.
We’re just not too sure about this one – especially for a Hawaiian film festival. Nothing wrong with bringing a little sparkle to the islands, but this reads as heavy and off-season – especially in the outdoor shots.
But regardless of whether it’s the right choice for this venue, we think the design itself is a bit problematic. The pailettes, to be blunt, are kind of a mess (which indicates this might not be the best traveling dress) and the embellishment at the neckline is clumsy and awkward, to our eyes. Everything about this is supposed to check off our boxes, but instead we keep questioning whether she should have attempted to wear this at all. We’ll grant that the color looks great on her, but that’s the irony of it: this too goes against our instincts. We tend to have a thing about blondes in yellows and red-heads in orange tones, in that they have to be careful to avoid matching their garment to their hair.
So to recap: Everything about this garment that bothers us a bit is a thing we normally love and the one thing that works goes against one of our style preferences. Save us from our confusion, darlings:
